My New Dress

I bought a dazzling, pink dress
Before I changed my address.

It was meant to express
A forthcoming success.

Life’s progress.
My new finesse.

Nevertheless,
To confess:

He put me in distress.
So, I had to suppress.

And due to the stress,
I didn’t get to impress.

Had to digress,
And reassess.

I don’t want to depress
With my process.

It hurts less
To admit the duress,

Than to genuinely profess –
He didn’t caress.

All he did was obsess
On ways to oppress.

He never said “yes”.
Loved to repress.

Now, I feel like a mess,
If you couldn’t guess.

I want to decompress,
And never regress.

Say God bless,
And strut in my dress.
