Life Around The Corner

Choosing Life and Operating Happiness

Silence’s Sound

There is only silence
Where we are.
An alarming stillness.

I imagine sounds,
I hear them from afar.
Like the sound of an old car,
Or the opening of a jar,
Or the sudden split of a fresh scar.

I hear you
Calling my name,
β€œTut Tut”
It sounded so beautiful
Like the sound of a flute.
You made sure
Only you called me that.
It was cute,
And now you are mute.

I hear myself
Whispering your name
As I tell you
I love you.
I hope to say it again,
And again.
Like the burning sound of
An eternal flame.
I hear myself cheering,
Offering you fame.
I even call you by your nickname.

I hear you tell me
β€œI am your man”,
And my heart
is opening up
Like a metal can.

But then I remember
My shutting door’s sound,
My canned food sobs
As it spills on the ground.

Voices are mixed
In a vortex of tears,
Yet none of my words
Enter your ears.
I wish we could hear
Our love cheers.
But
A black hole
Between us
Made silence appear.

  1. What a touching piece. Silence breaks hearts. Such a beautiful powerfully-expressed piece, Tut.

    I hear you
    Calling my name,
    β€œTut Tut”
    It sounded so beautiful
Like the sound of a flute. ❀❀
